I believe that there is no such thing as an accident, and it is no accident that you have come across my blog. My name is Demitra Chantal Adams, aka D. Chantal. This is an introduction to who I am and why I have created this blog.
Let’s begin with who. Who am I? To begin I am a Muslim, African American, middle-aged woman who originally hails from Los Angeles, CA. You will hear me talk often about being a middle-aged woman as it is fascinating, complex, and sometimes frustrating. Maybe you can relate. Maybe it’s 20 years in the future for you. From perimenopause to that first little line where you smile to that slight sagging in your neck, aging is inevitable. How you choose to deal with it is on you. I’m the type of person who wants to age gracefully and naturally, but I’m not going to completely let myself go either.
As I grow older, I’m trying my best to live without regrets. I mean, regret is an exercise in futility anyway. No matter how many times I go back in my head to a situation and think about what I should’ve said or done, or what I shouldn’t have said or done, the event stays the same because it already happened. But somehow, it’s still easy to meditate and ruminate on the “shoulda, coulda, wouldas” of life. But I digress.
Why write, you may ask? My main reason for writing this blog is to accompany my business, Kinara Wellness, which is a Health Coaching and Personal Training business for women. You’re probably thinking, what in the world is Health Coaching? Most people do. Health Coaching is a close cousin of Life Coaching with a focus on health. There is the same focus on getting to the heart of who you are as person and evaluating and celebrating your strengths. Both are person/client centered, meaning the coach doesn’t simply give you the answers and tell you what to do, the coach helps you to find the answers within yourself. Remember, you are way smarter and way stronger than you give yourself credit for. My job is to help you see that and act accordingly.
I have experienced the power of both Health Coaching and Personal Training in my life. It’s hard to express the difference my coach and trainer have made in my life. Like I said the confidence I strength I’ve gained were already there, but they asked the right questions, challenged me, and held me accountable. A lot of times we may be looking to change our lives but don’t know how, or we may feel stuck. A good coach will get you unstuck.
I will be covering a variety of health and lifestyle-related topics. Every 2 weeks or so at the start I will upload a new post and work up to weekly as I get into the swing of things. I do take requests, so please reach out if you have any. I hope that this blog is of benefit to you and that I can be of service to you through it.
